Welcome to our Mt . Kenya trek and optional rock climb. Over the last 5 years, we have had good success with organizing spectacular trekking on the summit circuit trail and to a high "trekking peak": Point Lenana (4985m). For those who want to do the optional rock climb, we have been putting members on one of the two summits of Mt. Kenya:  Nelion Summit at 5188 meters, and Bation Summit at 5199 meters.

Northeast Face of Mt. Kenya
The Northeast face of Mt. Kenya, as seen from Shipton's Hut (4200m).  Nelion Summit (5188m) is actually on the left, even though the higher top, Bation Summit (5199m), seen here on the right, looks lower.   Whichever one you climb, either is a worthy objective.  (Photo: David Wallis) Rock climbing the rift volcanoes, of which Kenya is one. Getting Ready to Descend

Sylvie getting ready to descend an ice slope leading to the Gate of Mists, which lies between Nelion and Bation Summits.  Jon Pratt is in the background, cutting foot placements in the ice.  That was one of the more memorable pitches, as 15 feet off to Jon's left was a cliff with not much below it.  We made it through and began the ascent of Bation, but had to turn back due to time constraints.  An hour or two later, we were right back at that spot going the other direction.  (Photo:  Mike Obrien)
